Why can't I see an image inside the box on the Image Viewer page (See Fig.1)?
Personal Computer (PC) using the Windows XP or Vista Operating Systems
Unfortunately some users cannot view images on our site using these operating systems as they are not Java enabled and cannot read web pages that contain Java. Therefore they end up seeing a window like Fig 1 to the right. If your browse looks like this then you will need to install Java. It is a widely used software system on the Internet and you will find it useful to have it installed to look at many sites, including City2See.

You can test to see if you are Java enabled by clicking the Test Java button below and then scroll down and see what it says in the pink box:
If it says that you are not using any version then you need to download Java by clicking the Download Java button below which will take you to the Java web site:

Then click on the download button for "Windows (Online Installation)" and save the file to your hard disk. Then go to the location where you saved the file and double click on it and follow the prompts to install Java. Instructions can also be found on the Java site.
This could take up to about 5-15 minutes to download and install depending on your Internet connection speed. You may also need to close and reopen your Internet browser for the update to work.
Macintosh Computer
It is likely that you are using a MacIntosh computer with the OSX operating system.
Unfortunately users cannot view images on our site using this operating system unless they use the Mac OS X default web browser, Safari, and also use the latest release of Java 1.4.2. If you do not have Safari loaded it can be downloaded by clicking here.. The latest release of Java can be downloaded by clicking here.
Why can't I zoom in or out using the zoom buttons?
In order to see some multimedia presentations you need to have Javascript enabled. If you see the initial image but cannot zoom using the buttons above the viewer window then your Browser is not Javascript enabled.
Instructions for enabling JavaScript in Internet Explorer can be found by clicking here.
For Internet Explorer on a Macintosh, go to Edit - Preferences - Java (under Web Browser).
Cookies ?
City2See uses "cookies" to allocate processing sessions on our WWW server and image processing system. A "cookie" is a small piece of information sent by a web server to store on a web browser so it can later be read back from that browser. You can read more about "cookies".
In some WWW browsers it is possible to explicitly stop the handling of "cookies." To use City2see, "cookies" must be enabled. We use them to separate what you're doing from what the other users on the system are doing at the same time. That way, you get to see your images, not somebody elses! If you have not already enabled your computer to accept "cookies" then follow these steps:
Internet Explorer
On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
Click the Privacy tab.
Click Advanced.
Click Override default settings and then specify how you want Internet Explorer to handle cookies from first-party Web sites and third-party Web sites (A Web site other than the one you are currently viewing).
If you want Internet Explorer to always allow session cookies (cookies that will be deleted from your computer when you close Internet Explorer) to be saved on your computer, click Always allow session cookies.
Netscape
On the Edit menu in Netscape, choose Preferences
Click the Advanced category.
Under Cookies click one of the radio buttons.
If you find that you have to enable cookies then to continue you will have to close down all browser windows open to this site and start afresh.
How do I locate my house?
You can locate your house by starting on the Search page. You get to the Search page by clicking on the red “Search Aerial Photos” link above the City2See logo.
To search for your house or any address you know, simply enter the street address in the appropriate fields on this page and click the yellow “Search” button.
You can access more detailed instructions by clicking on the How to Use City2See link above.
Why are some images blurry when I zoom in?
There is a limit to how close you can zoom before the image becomes blurry. This is because of the resolution of the original photography.
You can only zoom to make a house as big as it is in the original photograph.
We have pre-set the system to the highest possible zoom level while still providing you with a clear image. With some cities the quality of the photography does not support high levels of zoom in. In these cases we have provided advisory notes as pop up windows when you click on some of the zoom in buttons. If you ignore these notes we cannot guarantee the quality of the final image that will result.
Remember that the sample image you are viewing for free is at a lower resolution. You can order a higher resolution image by clicking the “purchase button” on the image viewer page and selecting one of the 3 higher resolution JPEGs. But remember the ultimate resolution is controlled by the quality of the original photography and the level of zoom you have chosen.
