Where did the data come from?
The aerial photography for City2See comes from either Sinclair Knight Merz, and Qasco Surveys Pty Ltd with some also (Canberra 1998) coming from the ACT Land Information Centre (ACTLIC), ACT Planning and Land Authority. The street addresses and property boundaries for each city have been supplied by the respective land information authorities.

How is the data served?
The technology behind City2See uses a mix of fast local processing on the user’s computer, and a powerful remote image processing engine based on the industry-standard ER MapperTM software.

City2See provides the ability to perform sophisticated image processing, including the ability to “superimpose” cadastral information such as property boundaries over the photographic images. Combining different data sets in this way is what allows City2See to offer such advanced searching capabilities.

These processes combine to bring to the user the ability to perform sophisticated image processing without reliance on specialist software or training. The current system requires nothing more than an Internet connection and a standard web browser.

Who created the data engine?
The technology behind City2See was developed by Earthinsite.com Pty Ltd.

Earthinsite is a Canberra company that specialises in making spatial data available at low cost to small business and the wider community. It uses innovative spatial information technology originally developed at the Australian National University.

City2See is the first of several data products developed by Earthinsite. Other products include Seasurface.com an Australia-wide sea surface temperature image delivery service with images derived from daily satellite data.

Who designed the website?
The City2See website was designed by Amok Communications. Amok was responsible for the graphical user interface (GUI) which sits over the top of the Earthinsite engine, and were involved with refining the user interactions for ordering and image selection.

Amok were also involved with developing the marketing plan for the launch of City2See.
