MEDIA RELEASE FROM EARTHINSITE (Dec 2004)
NEW 2004 HIGH RESOLUTION COLOUR AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY OF CANBERRA NOW AVAILABLE
Earthinsite is pleased to announce the release of new higher resolution (15cm) 2004 Canberra colour aerial photography on its City2See web site. This new photography, taken in April 2004, replaces the older 1998 ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA) photography previously available on our web site. We have, however, kept the older photography on the site making it available to anyone wishing to purchase archival images.
The new photography has been made available under a licence with Sinclair Knight Merz and will not be available through ACTPLA. At present it covers the entire Canberra urban area only. We have also received 7.5cm imagery of the Queanbeyan urban area and 25cm resolution of the entire Greater Queanbeyan Council rural area. Plans are also well advanced to add Melbourne early in 2005 followed by the other major urban areas of Australia soon after. In addition to all this we have also upgraded our systems to provider a faster service to our customers.
The prices for the 1998 digital photography have been kept at their previous price of $9.90. However, the price for a digital copy of the newer 2004 photography has increased to $14.90 without property boundaries, and $15.90 with boundaries.
For samples of the higher qulaity photography and for comparisons with the 1998 version click here. As you can see not only is the 2004 version of higher resolution but the quality with regard contrast, joins and colour is far superior. Evident also is the recent drought Canberra has been experiencing.
