MEDIA RELEASE FROM EARTHINSITE (Aug 2007)
NEW 2007 AIR PHOTOGRAPHY OF SYDNEY URBAN AREA
Sydney 2007
High quality 2007 digital colour aerial photography of Australia’s largest urban area, Sydney is now available on-line at www.city2see.com.
People can roam through Gigabytes of digital colour photography at the click of a mouse and see gardens, swimming pools and cars in the driveway more clearly than anything previously available in Australia. The quality is 36 times better than Google Earth.
The photography, flown in March 2007, has a spatial resolution of 10cm over the entire urban area. This is one of the highest resolutions of air photography offered on the web worldwide. You can search on a specific street address, browse streets, suburbs and neighbourhoods, or choose from a list of places of interest. Property boundaries can also be overlain on the images with a simple mouse click.
The coverage extends from Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury River in the north to Campbelltown in the south. To the west, the photography goes out as far as Penrith with an additional corridor of coverage either side of the Great Western Highway as far west as Little Hartley. With the addition of this new coverage City2see now provides 3 separate periods of Sydney photography, 1943, 2005 and now 2007.
Searching and viewing browse images from the database is free with high resolution digital and printed images, including laminated and framed products available from $15.90. All that’s needed is an Internet connection and a credit card.
The City2see system uses technology developed by Australian company Earthinsite.com Pty Ltd and relies on high quality imagery from Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) - Australia’s leading spatial information company and property boundary and address information from MapData Sciences Pty Ltd, PSMA.
