New Satellite Poster of Australia - Special Discount Price

Click image to enlarge We are pleased to announce the publication of a new poster of Australia produced from satellite data from NASA’s MODIS series of orbiting satellites (click on the image to the right to see a larger version).

This outstanding new poster includes bathymetry data of the ocean floor. The bright blue colour represents shallower water or continental shelves making it easy to see that Australia sits on the Indo-Australian Plate. We know that the first inhabitants entered the continent on foot, by crossing what is known as the Torres Strait today when the sea levels were lower over 40,000 years ago. All this is evident from looking at this map.

There is so much detail available in this image that a great many other natural features can be seen. For example the world heritage listed Great Barrier Reef off the north eastern coast and the world’s largest monolith, Uluru (Ayer’s Rock) in the Northern Territory, can easily be identified.

The poster includes Australian State/Territory boundaries, is in Albers Equal Area Conic projection, has a 10° latitude/ longitude grid, measures 686 mm x 838 mm, is printed on good quality gloss paper and retails for $29.95. There is a special price of $25 (including surface postage) for all orders received before 17 December. It will make a great Christmas present and is a great addition to that wall either in your home, office or conference room. To download an order form click here.

Natural Hazard Risk Profile Reports

Have you got a Natural Hazard Risk Profile Report for your property?

The Reports provide "threat by peril" risk ratings for individual Australian properties as they pertain to bushfire, earthquake, hailstorm, tropical cyclone, and, where available, riverine flood.

The risk rating profile report and database were developed by Risk Frontiers (formerly the Natural Hazards Research Centre), a world leader in quantitative natural hazards risk assessment, sponsored by the Australian insurance community and based at Sydney's Macquarie University.

Profiles provide scientific information relevant to the various threats and a ranking of the relative threat by peril along with elevation above mean sea level, aspect and distance from the shoreline.

For $50 plus GST, City2see users can now access the Natural Hazard Risk Profile Application Reports by clicking here or by clicking on the Risk Frontiers icon (pictured right) on the front page of www.city2see.com .The process enables a user to register to quickly determine the risk rating for a property at a chosen street address. Payment of the report can be done by credit card on the site.

The address is validated in the Risk Frontiers Natural Hazards Risk Rating database to determine the property's risk of bushfire, flood, earthquake, hailstorm and cyclone and then immediately issues a PDF report which contains a table of risk ratings and a series of maps identifying the location of the property. To see a sample report click here. and then click on the About button.
