Dear City2see User,

New Easy Export for CAD & GIS Users

City2See users who regularly import images into software such as CAD and GIS (geographic information systems) now have a fast easy way to do their imports. We have added a new Export button to the normal Download and Email buttons that you see when you make a purchase. This new feature is now available for all City2See products.

If you click on the new Export button City2See will generate 2 files for you: The normal high resolution jpg image that you are used to, and a new jgw world file. The page that then loads lets you download each of these files to your computer. Simply save both these files to the same folder on your computer and give them the same name (e.g. like this: 233_Collins_St.jpg and 233_Collins_St.jgw). Most spatially aware software will then be able to import the City2See image and you'll see coordinates in Eastings and Northings and a correct scale.

The new Export facility doesn't change any of the existing facilities. All City2See images are accurately georeferenced and true to scale in all directions with coordinates (Map Grid Australia) and the size of the image in pixels displayed at the bottom of each downloaded product.

Users of plain AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT can import georeferenced City2See images by using the Map/Image/Insert command (see CAD Forum Tip 5066. Another option is Xanadu's free GeoRefImg utility which is described in CAD Forum Tip 4540 and on Autodesk's own web site at Thread ID 512411.

Aerial Photography Acquisition & Additional Coverage added to City2see

We are very pleased to announce City2see's new commercial partner, Vision Communicators.

This Australian company specialises in the acquisition of high resolution digital aerial photography, anywhere in Australia. Their systems and operational standards are first class, using state of the art acquisition equipment and post-processing software.

City2see and Vision Communicators can mobilize very quickly, sometimes same or next day, and acquire, and deliver proof imagery the same day. Final deliverables can be in your hands within days of the acquisition, depending on the size and complexity of the project. The imagery can be delivered as a straight digital file, in any of the recognized image formats.

Spatially accurate datasets can be georeferenced, orthoreferenced, mosaiced into a seamless image, and tiled to suit Geographical Information Systems. The accuracy levels will depend on your needs, with or without ground control. Display or oblique photography suitable for real estate/property marketing, town planning or presentations can also be acquired.

From the acquired imagery, you can also request contour maps, feature counts and mapping and interpretation of environmental issues, including mapping linear assets such as pipelines, roads, rail lines and the like. Volumetric calculations, and 3D modelling can also be provided. Concurrent video can also be acquired.

In addition to linking this new acqusition service to City2see, Vision Communicators, have also added their vast archive of recently acquired imagery to those that we currently offer City2see customers. Initially we will be adding the following locations to our archive:

* Vic - Mildura.
* Qld - Allora, Bowen, Cannonvale, Collinsville, Killarney, Proserpine, Shute Harbour and Warwick,
* NSW - Bourke, Braidwood, Bungendore, Captains Flat and Hay

Natural Hazard Risk Profile Reports

Do you know what the natural hazard threats to your or your client's property are?

For $50 plus GST, City2see users can now access the Natural Hazard Risk Profile Application Reports for any street address in Australia. It is as easy as just clicking here or by clicking on the Risk Frontiers icon (pictured right) on the front page of www.city2see.com. The eCommerce system enables a registered user to quickly determine the risk rating for a property at a chosen street address.

The address is validated in the Risk Frontiers Natural Hazards Risk Rating database to determine the property's risk of bushfire, flood, earthquake, hailstorm and cyclone. The application immediately issues a PDF report which contains a table of risk ratings and a series of maps identifying the location of the property.
